How to Design a Visiting Card: Canva Guide and Print Rules (UV and Emboss Finishing)
A visiting card is small, so every detail counts. This guide shows how to design one yourself (even free in Canva), the simple rules that stop printing mistakes, and what UV print and emboss finishing add. Design it, send it, and we print it with a clean finish.
What goes on a visiting card
- Your name and what you do (the biggest text after the logo)
- Business name and logo
- One phone number with WhatsApp, and email if you use it
- Address or town, and website or Instagram if useful
Do not crowd the card. Leave empty space; it looks more professional and is easier to read.
Design it yourself in Canva
Open Canva, search for "visiting card", pick a template, replace the text and logo and keep to two colours and two fonts. Download it as a PDF Print file and send it to us on WhatsApp. If you are not comfortable designing, send your details and a card you like and we prepare a preview for you to approve.
Simple rules for a print-ready file
- Size: standard visiting card size, or tell us your size, and design at exactly that size.
- Bleed: extend the background colour a few millimetres beyond the edge so no white line shows after cutting.
- Safe margin: keep text and logo a few millimetres inside the edge so nothing is cut off.
- Resolution: use a high-quality logo and photos. A blurry phone screenshot prints blurry.
- Text size: keep phone numbers and small text readable; very thin fonts can disappear in print.
- Colours: screen colours can look slightly different on paper. Ask for a preview or a sample if the colour matters.
- File: send PDF (best), or PNG/JPG at high quality. Check the spelling and every phone digit twice.
UV print and emboss print
Plain printing is enough for most cards. For a premium look, we also do UV print and emboss print finishing. Tell us the effect you want and we advise on which part of the design to highlight, usually the logo or the name.
Quantity and paper
Tell us how many cards you need and the paper feel you prefer (thin, thick, matte or glossy). Price depends on the paper, finish and quantity, so we quote on WhatsApp.

Do you do UV and emboss printing?
Yes, both are available as finishing for visiting cards.
